Oh, what an awesome last sentance. Yes. Awhile back I attended a series of lectures on feminism and early Christianity. One of the professors was talking about Mary Magdalene (her identity, connections, and so forth)---this person, as a matter of fact. One of the people in the audience during Q&A got up and asked: "Why do you think the Vatican is trying to surpress the DaVinci code?" She answered: "I have no idea... because that book is so in line with the Vatican's own reductionist idea of women."
Yeah. I too am annoyed by the belief that apparently it's Mary's womb that matters, not the person herself. And even more so that this is being presented as somehow counter-patriarchal.
