*grins* I didn't cry, either. But I did love it a lot, for the reasons you've cited. Henry and Clare are very real, and I cared about them almost immediately, and I am also somewhat of a romantic sap.
Plus, time-traveling librarians FTW! I would love to be a shelving miion in Henry's library. "Oh, my boss? He's...er...out of the office right now."
