Which would be highly possible. After all, in Greek, Arachnid...e? a? Anyway, a girl with an Arachnidish name got turned into a spider by Athena, because Arachnidea defied the Goddess, and then beat her at weaving a beautiful carpet. She was essentially a spinner as well.
