So, as part of trying to be more active on Dreamwidth

(not least because Twitter is dying a slow and painful death right now; and while I don't think journal-based fandom is ever fully coming back in the way it once was, it's good to have this space)

1. I need more icons. Clearly I need more icons. What happened to all my icons I used to lovingly collect and make? Must source more icons.

2. I've moved all my old (pre-2023) posts to Private, and will go through and turn a chunk of them back to Public or friendslocked but more selectively.

3. Going to sign up for some fic exchanges again! Dreamwidth still seems better than Twitter for finding and promoting broader fandom fic exchanges innumerable_stars looks like a brilliant Tolkien one.

Breaking from Twitter was definitely one of the best moves for my mental health. And I'm a bit of an icon addict, myself.

Twitter is very... I think the way it's set up encourages fightiness and promotes the worst people on the internet, and there's a lot of good stuff there too but lately it feels like the balance is WAY off.

Indeed. Instagram has somewhat been a good substitute for me in that regard, and I still use blogs like DW since I tend to have vast thoughts that don't fit Twitter's restrictive format.

I, too, am planning to make some new icons, since many of mine are... um... well, look at the one I used here. They're generally from that era.

If you want something with effects or text or whatever and you don't have access to an editing program, anyhow, I have Photoshop and am always happy for some relaxing graphics work.
