Well. It should, but so many other things should change their relationship and don't (or not to anywhere near the degree that you'd expect them to, anyway). That the "Ivanova says all love is unrequited"/"Well, she's wrong" scene could just have no consequences says a lot about what they're capable of ignoring. It would change the effect of her trying to reassure him by saying that he couldn't possibly make himself better in her eyes, but he doesn't look too reassured by that in the episode anyway. It might have to change all his attempts to be a good aide and Ranger (and get the information on the Centauri for her), though. I'm not sure.
